Discovery Place

Discovery Place came to East on Wednesday, September 7th to teach us about simple machines.  Students learned about the six types of simple machines which will show up on their Science EOG.  Students had hands-on experiences with all of the simple machines and were able to see how they work as well!  It was so much fun!

Edgar and Cesar designing Levers.  They built 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class Levers.  They also learned the terms fulcrum, load, and effort.

Help me out!  Desnee is offering help to Angel when looking up Science information :)
In the above picture, Daniela was so interested to see what was SO COOL two computers down from her!
 Destiny, working hard as usual.
A view of our class working hard.  Notice, no one is even paying attention to me! SO GREAT!

Class Economy

This year we started doing a classroom economy!  Students can earn credits for doing the right thing, but they can also earn debits for making poor choices.  Each student keeps a credit/debit notebook on their desk everyday so I can add to it.  At the end of every month students determine how much money they earned.  They also get paid for their classroom job!  After they pay me rent for their desk, students get a check and cash it in with the banker and then they get to go shopping at our class store!

Here is Cesar with his credit/debit notebook!

These are some of the items the students can shop for at the class store!  Some students have set goals to save up to buy the bigger, cooler things ;)
